Prof. Nicolas Picard
Nicolas Picard, PharmD, PhD
Nicolas Picard is Full Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and a Hospital Biologist in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pharmacovigilance at Limoges University Hospital (France). Since 2020, he has served as President of the Francophone Network of Pharmacogenetics (RNPGx), which brings together experts from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Tunisia, and Quebec. He is nationally accredited as a pharmacogeneticist and serves as co-head of the Oncogenetics, Cytogenetics, Neurogenetics, and Pharmacogenetics Unit at Limoges University Hospital, where he is responsible for clinical pharmacogenetics.
In addition to his hospital duties, he acts as an expert and consultant in pharmacogenetics and clinical pharmacology for regulatory and public health bodies, collaborating with the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM), the French National Authority for Health (HAS), and the French Federation of Human Genetics (FFGH).
At the Faculty of Pharmacy, he heads the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, where he teaches Clinical Pharmacology. His research within the Inserm “Pharmacology & Transplantation” Unit has evolved from in vitro studies on the metabolism and disposition of immunosuppressants to clinical research in transplantation. His current work focuses primarily on the implementation of pharmacogenetics in transplantation, psychiatry, and geriatrics. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
