Dr. Silvia Rocchiccioli graduated in 2003 in Chemistry at the University of Pisa, where she took her PhD in Chemical Sciences in February 2007. Since June 2007 she is working on proteomic/lipidomic analysis and evaluation of mass spectrometry data at the Institute of Clinical Physiology of CNR. Major equipment of laboratory includes Ultra-centrifuge and Centrifuges Beckman Coulter, Western Blot and gel-free proteomics studies (HPLCs and mass spectrometers), one analytical- and one micro-HPLC system (Shimadzu Nexera and LC200-Eksigent), and 2 mass spectrometers (SCIEX): 5600TripleTOF for high-throughput profiling/high-resolution analysis/comparative semi-quantitative analysis; 5500QTRAP for quantitation and targeted analysis. The research activity of Dr. Silvia Rocchiccioli is focused on the proteomics and lipidomics approaches to evaluate biomarkers of cardiovascular/cardiometabolic and neurodegenerative diseases in plasma/serum, cellular extracts and tissues from explants. These approaches have been successfully applied in different contexts, spanning from in vitro cell models to animal models and clinical trials. Dr. Silvia Rocchiccioli is developing new approaches for extracellular vesicle, lipids and peptide fractionation and identification targeted to the non-invasive discovery and validation of molecular biomarkers.
