
Prof. Anita Morandi
Anita Morandi is a Pediatrician and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Verona, Italy. After specializing in Pediatrics in 2008 at the University of Verona (Italy), in 2012 she achieved a PhD in Lille (France), at the Mixt Research Unit 1283/1199 of the CNRS (Functional (Epi)genomics and mechanisms of type 2 diabetes and related diseases, Prof. Philippe Froguel). Since her return to Italy in 2012, she has been working as pediatric endocrinologist and diabetologist at the University Hospital of Verona, at the Pediatrics B Unit, which includes the Regional Centre for Pediatric Diabetes of the Veneto Region and a third-level Centre for Pediatric Obesity that is a Collaborating Centre for Obesity Management’ (COM) of the European Society for the Study of Obesity (EASO). She is a member of the Italian Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology (ISPED) and of the ISPED Obesity Study Group, of the EASO, the Italian Society of Obesity (SIO) and of the SIO Scientific Committee, of the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) and of the European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG). She was awarded the ISPED Balducci Prize in 2017, for a research study about the molecular bases of type 2 diabetes in children/adolescents with obesity (J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2016 Nov;101(11):4244-4250) and she was awarded the SIO Best Oral Communication Prize in 2023, for an abstract describing a case series of patients with monogenic obesity. Since 2023, she has been the principal investigator for the University of Verona and the international responsible of the clinical work package of the Horizon Europe International Project Obelisk (Preventing childhood obesity to stay healthy throughout life). She is author of 105 scientific publications in international journals (Scopus February/2025).
